51 Chevy Convertible WIP

Okay so I decided I better post this as a WIP as the accountability seems to be the only way I get anything finished!

Received an AMT 51 Chevy Convertible kit as a Christmas gift from one of my kids so I figured it would be a good build to kick off my new workbench. Not going too crazy with this one. Going with a close to factory Dark grey with two tone grey interior. Engine will be stock and the stock wheels will be painted Ivory. Car will be lowered and have some emblems removed. May do some light weathering to make it look like a driver.

Did some research and made the basic build plans and finally ripped into the kit. Anyway here is where I am at after a short time at the bench...

...assembled the basic block and fabricated a simple generator bracket...

...drilled the holes for the plug wires...

...decided to make boots for the distributor by drilling out plastic rod (none of my tubing was small enough...

...not the best method, but using what I have on hand!
